Britannica is a fantastic starting point to get a general understanding of a topic.
You will notice that there are 3 options to click from when you first log in.
If you are in Year 7-8 consider starting with the middle level. for Years 9-12 go to the high option.
To access Britannica from home go the the library Canvas page and click on the link Britannica Home Access. If you are prompted for a password these are also on Canvas.

Explore world history from the mid-15th century to the present. Thousands of subject entries including biographies, images, videos and slideshows, maps and graphs, primary sources, and timelines. These resources provide information on people, places, events, and ideas that have defined modern world history.
Gale in Context: World History This link opens in a new window
From the Ancient World to today's headlines, World History provides primary sources, reliable reference, and multi-media content. This database is useful when looking for a historical understanding of a topic and in History subjects.
Gale in Context: High School This link opens in a new window
Information resources for assignments, projects, and presentations across all subject areas. An excellent resource to start your search for information for Years 7-12.
Bloom's Literature This link opens in a new window
Bloom’s Literature is rich with content about authors and works, both the classics and contemporary literature. This resource also has a Fine and Performing Arts Centre that is useful when researching in Creative Arts subjects.

Search Tips:

Below are some good websites to use when searching for information on art. These are a starting point
Museums and galleries are a fantastic place to find images of artworks and information on artworks and artists.
Think about key words associated with your artwork when typing in your search (e.g. name of the artwork, name of the artist, influences)
When searching online (e.g. Google), look at who created the website in your results list, if it is a museum or gallery it will be a good resource to explore.

Google Arts & Culture
Google Arts and Culture is a useful source when the information has been written by one of its partner institutions and unfortunately not useful when an article is written by an unnamed third party.
Khan Academy
This website is useful for all subjects. Type key word relating to the art movement, artist or artwork in the search bar.
Tate Modern
National Gallery of Australia
MoMA - Museum of Modern Art
The MET - The Metropolitan Museum of Art
Type the name of your art movement or artist in the search bar.
Musée d'Orsay - search screen
Type the name of artists in the search bar.
