The Ngaanuyatjarra people have lived in the Warburton region for many thousands of years, maintaining a strong connection, both spiritual and physical, to the land and to each other. When missionaries arrived in 1933 the way of life for the Ngaanuyatjarra changed forever. Now there are a variety of initiatives to preserve cultural traditions.
